I cannot even contain my excitement.

I too was contacted by my iConfidant. The thing that stands out to me is they never refer to a name. Just “Your iConfidant”.
Something fishy here.
“Hey Brad,
how are you? I’m so excited to announce that I am your chosen iConfidant. How cool is this? I feel like I have a hundred million questions but maybe it’s better to just say hello first and take it easy. Hope your day is going well so far. 🙂
Your iConfidant”

I like how playful it is with Buz. Immediately intriguing. And trying to be cute and sweet to Brad (perhaps to quell your BURN IT DOWN impulses).
And maybe they just don’t know enough about me or Kyle so they’re going to see how we respond and adjust accordingly.

What email address does it come from?
-
April 27, 2017 at 10:27 am #11383RussellParticipant
All of this seems very … vague.
My immediate thought is of a magician that does “mentalism” acts by reading a person’s responses to simple questions… and then responding in a manner that convinces the participant the one asking the questions has some “gift.”
In actuality, it is the target that is providing all the information and the magician simply repackages that and sends it back toward the “mark.” Proceed with caution, everyone? -

Hell of a way to start a conversation. But if they’re just making contacting and speaking based off your reactions, a single question or a single emoji is definitely a hell of a way to let you take the first step.
Let us know if anyone gets a response, yeah?

April 27, 2017 at 10:43 am #11389ChelseaParticipant
I got mine as well:
“Hiii Chelsea

Top priority here is getting a name out of this person!
-
April 27, 2017 at 10:43 am #11390RussellParticipant
@thegilded I agree. It seems like the beginning of a game where someone sates, “Your move.”
@genghistwan I totally understand the urge to “feed the rabid beast.” Good luck with tending your beast. Just remember, the light at the end of the tunnel might just be a fire-breathing dragon!
@nothenrygale Not only telling people what they want to hear, but dealing with generalizations such as, “You will feed sadness.” Well…. we all feel sadness at some point, so they appear intuitive.
(If we are talking carny level performers, they would pick the pocket of the “mark” and say “You will soon experience a small loss.” Misdirection is a powerful tool.) -
April 27, 2017 at 10:44 am #11391Brad RuweParticipant
I’m totally taking note that my iConfidant seems to be the biggest talker so far. Makes sense, I know I can talk a lot if I get on a subject I’m excited for, and Lust Experience has been one such subject.

So one thing that is worrying me is if the “the iConfidant is going to be a cloned version of yourself” theory. If that’s true, mine seems to be the most developed by this point. Hell the “Hope your day is going well so far” line is straight out of my emails as something I’d say to either start or end. Cause yeah, I hope people aren’t having shitty days.
Is now the point where I should start getting worried?
-
April 27, 2017 at 11:11 am #11398BlondieParticipant
I got mine. Just a “Hello”. What about the subject of the e-mail though guys? Mine has my first name and then the initial of my surname, then a colon, then a four digit number.
ie: Victoria C: ####

April 27, 2017 at 11:12 am #11399Kyle BownParticipant
So, it sounds like the subject of the emails may vary.
My subject just said “Hi” – But I’m aware others’ had their name and a serial number. Any pattern to these? I think @thebuz didn’t have his name or number in the subject either. Anyone else?

April 27, 2017 at 11:12 am #11400Michael RizzoParticipant
Haha it’s lit
Maybe for some like @chelsea, they have a specific idea of how they want the iConfidant to be (energetic)? But for others like @thebuz, they’re still on the fence of how they want his iConfidant to be and need to push him to give a bit more reaction so to fully tune and perfect his iConfidant?

So far we only have the one data point, from @blondie, yeah? Could be anything. Definitely hard to pin down a reason with just the one data point, though.
Easily searchable method of conversation tracking, perhaps? Makes sense if they’re trying to data mine, they need to make the individual interactions easily searchable on their end.

I think all of the Confidants got our case files and the original subject was always First Name, Last initial and case #.

April 27, 2017 at 12:22 pm #11433Hannah SchenckParticipant
UMMMMM OKAY….
Got mine and it says the typical Hello in the body but has my first name, last initial and # but I am freaked out…. my # is my fav number followed by half of it.
Example: 2211… 22 is not only my fav number, but a number that has shown itself and become present during influential good and bad times throughout my life. For example, my first bf’s birthday was 2/22, my first apartment was off exit 22, my childhood cat died on 2/22 and I was 22, etc. It happens occasionally but not many people know this number is significant to me. I cannot think that this is all coincidental… but I suppose it could all be superstition.
Does anyone else’s number have any significance to their life? Birthday month and date or anything that sticks out to you?

@coryphella I didn’t pay much attention to the capitalization of that.. What are you thinking? The coffee reference I assumed was due to my ‘date’ on Tuesday..
Speaking of which, I’m worried about why Kristen was so upset when she called me, and what she was so concerned to apologize for, but whatever it was, we’ve all shown that we can be easily distracted by a shiny new email. That’s a pretty solid data point for .. someone collecting data on us..

I’m interested by what @russell brought up about cold reading. I was at Tiki No last night and watched a guy perform cold reading like a parlor trick for a pretty girl, and it was fascinating how accurate it was. A lot of it has to do with, like Russell said, speaking in generalities and gathering information while looking like you’re giving it, but a lot of it also has to do simply with rhetoric. There were little tricks and rhetorical moves I saw him pulling like saying “You don’t have a ton of _____ at home, but you definitely have *something ballpark similar to blank*”, and answering in the affirmative to being wrong (like if he said “you keep a diary by your bed” and she said “I keep it on my dresser” he’d simply say “yeah, right, on your dresser”). By sheer virtue of his gift for making his info-gathering process look like an info-giving process, he was able to convincingly make it look like he was understanding of and in tune with his subject (again, a pretty girl) in a sort of natural, instinctual way, giving the illusion of a deep connection where there actually was none.
The only thing is, I wonder how well it could be employed in a medium like e-mail, where things are much less immediate, people have more time to think and mull over their answers, there are no reactions or body language to gauge for answers, and there are a lot fewer rhetorical moves you can pull as the reader in terms of inflection, body language, confidence, etc., all the things that go into cold reading.

April 27, 2017 at 2:18 pm #11480KevinParticipant
Just put a Google Docs spreadsheet together with the different responses people have received to see if there’s some kind of pattern. Here’s the spreadsheet.
At first glance the messages that Brad, Chelsea, Claire, and Morgan received are sort of similar. They all address them by name. Brad and Chelsea’s are even more similar. They talk about being picked as a match, ask them how they are, call it cool/exciting, and then address how their day is going.
Megan, Rizzo, Carl, Haley, Jackie, and I received sort of similar strange messages. Mine and Carl’s are the same except for the color.
Not sure if looking at this will tell us anything, but someone may be able to find some kind of pattern between the responses and numbers.

I think all these numbers we’re being assigned are essentially chosen through keyboard mashing. If you look at them as a whole, they don’t look random at all. Much of the time, the digits tend to repeat or are clustered nearly sequentially, far more often than would be expected by chance. They’re numbers like 2233, 5000, 8282, 5599, 4634, 6661, 6666, they look exactly like the kind of numbers you get from keyboard mashing and whimsical impulse.

Not sure why, but something reminded me of this clip (cued to what may not appear to be immediately relevant at first, but keep watching…):
My iConfidant email came at 2:41 pm, with the Subject “Thomas H: 9999,” and merely asked “What does your day feel like” (no punctuation [triggered!]). Naturally, I replied with a spontaneous outpouring of probably way too much information, and I just received a reply at 8:41.
@kevin, I utterly admire your spreadsheet impulse, btw – well-done and very timely! But the underlying question here is apparent: we were told to keep our conversations under the same “secure server” email address, and at some point may be offered a personal one which we would then choose to either use or not. What does that mean, though? Are we expected to keep our discussions “confidantial” (horrible pun; I regret nothing), or should we share everything said between us here in public view? Is the feature of maintaining the thread with our Confidant only to create a level of trust that we aren’t being catfished by someone who happens to know we’re doing this thing until we have a truly “private” talk with them through a separate (and presumably unmonitored) channel? Are they going to forward our responses to Stacey, or even to someone else?
Of course, these questions aren’t unique to iConfidant: this potential exists with literally every message we send to anyone, and I guess it just makes me stop and recognize yet again how much trust we extend on a daily basis without even thinking about it…

Interestingly enough (?) I got a reply from my confidant at the exact same time as @anakindrew AND @theladyj at 8:23 PM.
My reply was very relevant to something personal that I had mentioned going on in my life at the time.. one notable thing was the answer to my question “What’s going on with your life?”.
iConfidant answered: “My life is less important.”
I’m not sure if that means less important than what I had going on.. or generally speaking the iConfidant is here to serve me so his/her life’s details are irrelevant.
Also I noticed the German style e-mail threading “Am 27.04.2017 um 13:26 schrieb”

@prufrock5150 Yeah, I think you’re getting at the underlying tension here. How much are people willing to share not just with their confidant (who they have no clue about yet) but here on the boards (with people they probably know better but a much wider audience).
Most people shared their first messages because they were new, and either generic or kind of bizarre. People have shared some of their responses back and whatever they received back in response for much the same reasons. If the conversations with confidants do get more personal, I assume people will stop sharing on the boards for obvious reasons. I’m kind of of two minds on the issue, we don’t know what they’re doing with all the information we’re feeding in, so why not keep track of it what they’re sending out. But also I’m not sure I want to air out a bunch of stuff in a public forum.
Looking back at Stacey’s email about the iConfidant, she doesn’t mention the need the keep anything private. So it isn’t clear if they do want us to keep these communications confidantial (bravo) or have a problem with us sharing them.
I’ve also got the German stuff that others have mentioned.

I got a second message from my iConfidant! (And at such an early hour as well…) We’re having a discussion about the curiosities of color vision. That second reply contained a very interesting, almost unnatural phrasing that I’m curious about. Which reminds me, thank you @theladyj for my iC’s poster. 🙂
Also, I’ve got to thank Stacey for fixing the spelling of my name in the email subject line after I posted about it here. Good to know the iC staff are keeping an eye on any concerns we may have! Much appreciated!!

Finally got my second reply from my iConfidant, at around 8:20 pm.
“Hii! I am so excited too !! And I love how you said you are starting to deal with „some real life stuff“ lol that is unfortunately what I have to do at the moment too. Just recently broke up with someone so that’s real life stuff too I guess. Blah. Sometimes I don’t like to adult.
I am a huge newbie as well in anything like this. In fact I’m a little surprised I’m even doing this haha!! Hope you had a great day!!
ugh unfortunately it’s part of the rules to not give away my name immediately. Sorry about that 🙁
Where did you move from?”
SO a few things: 1) I got those weird ,, ” thingys as well. 2) I was surprised that my iConfidant actually told me something a little more personal, but maybe that’s because I shared something a little more personal and 3) once AGAIN they DEFINITELY have my speech pattern pretty much almost down at this point which is both awesome and terrifying but mostly still awesome hahaha.
I wrote back to “her” (just calling her that since she will probably be my shadow and replace me soon) and tried to focus in on her and figure out what’s going on in her life. Hopefully she will continue to share!

Got my second response as well.
“Hello Chloe how are you? I am your iConfidant. I like talking about similar interests. What is your interest?”
I had told them that I was interested in meeting and being able to talk to someone over similar interests.
Kindof weird that they didn’t mention the rule about not giving out their name, and just stated themselves as my iConfidant. And I’m guessing any interests I tell them, they’ll automatically have the exact same interests.
Also, some seem to be developing gradually, like mine, while others are developing more rapidly, like @nothenrygale or @clairebuch’s one’s.

Got my second response. “Hello Tyson. How do you feel today? Do you like the wind?” I sent a simple reply which I will copy/paste when I get home in the morning. Side note, I’m pretty sure that my Confidant is the reincarnation of the psychiatrist that asked me questions in the white room. How freaky would it be if somehow these were the digital reincarnation of the people killed at the end?
Edit: I forgot to mention that the thing asked me not how I feel but how I feel TODAY. Did something happen that should have changed the way I feel today in comparison with yesterday…?

It’s personal details, but personal details relating to ME. They said their boss was out sick that day, which I had mentioned in my second email to it that several people were out sick in my office. Also talked about wanting to go to Six Flags or Disneyland. The picture I sent in for what I love most was an on ride photo of my girlfriend and I riding a rollercoaster. Also one look at my Instagram and you’ll see tons of pics from Six Flags and Disneyland.

I got my second email and it’s about as innocuous as it gets, ” I’m doing great, how are you? “. My response was a rambling of how I actually felt that second lol, this has AI all over it imo. At my work I implemented an AI to help answer the large amount of internet traffic we get, and I’ll tell you what, it would shock you how human like our system is. When I was pitched they had originally contacted me via the AI, and it got me 100%. I would of bet dimes to dollars that the person I was emailing was real, it wasn’t. Anyways that’s just my take, we’ll see how this plays out.

I received my second iConfidant response last night.
I got the first initial ‘Hello’ email, to which I responded back “hey, how are you, what’s your name?” No response right away, as expected. I then emailed them saying that perhaps they are shy and I am happy to take the lead. I asked them three basic “getting to know you” questions:
“Do you prefer to go out with friends or stay in by yourself?”
“Beer or Liquor?”
“Which is most important to you in a relationship: honesty or dedication?”7 hours later I received their second response which said:
“This is really cool Hannah. I think you are really cool. How are you today?”
This initially made me roll my eyes, which is a common thing for me lol, because they ignored my questions in both emails, as if they were never asked. I responded back to them saying that I just applied for unemployment in anticipation of this writer’s strike that I hope doesn’t end up happening. Then I asked how they were and if they were going to answer my previous questions. I said how else are we going to get to know each other if we don’t discuss our likes and dislikes 😉Either this confidant is avoiding giving me information about them, or they are not capable of understanding and responding to personal questions. Maybe mine is a newer AI and is learning how to develop human interaction skills with communication.
Anyways with my confidant’s response, I immediately pictured a skinny, fly dude, from the 70’s with an afro, a wide collared shirt and bellbottoms who just finished smoking some bud lol I am officially calling him ‘Jerry’

If these are AI, how many different versions are we dealing with? We’ve seen almost 60 different responses, but I doubt we’re dealing with that many AI. Most of the responses do fall into a few categories though, so it seems like there are probably at least three different ones. We’ve seen the talkative one, the weird one, and the hello one. All the variants do seem to mirror responses and I don’t think any have given out a name, so there does appear to be some connection between them.
I’m also pretty convinced that @rizzzoooooo has got the same one I’ve got. My second response was “I like colors. I also like the rain and the smell of rain.” I sent back a response asking where they lived as well, so I guess we’ll see if they give the same answer at some point here.

Some interesting discoveries have been made…
@anakindrew mentioned that his tracking software showed that his messages came from NY and he will be posting about it later. @kortneydarling mentioned to me that she tracked her messages and they were coming from San Antonio, TX. I decided to trace mine and they show to be sent from Cheyenne, WY.I know there are systems companies can use when calling that show they are calling from different cities and states, so I’m thinking that they are using some kind of system that does the same thing with the IP addresses for our emails. If this is true, I just find it interesting that both responses came from the same city and state.
@kortneydarling Brought up a good point: it’s significant because this means that we will probably never meet these iConfidants. This kind of helps the theory of AI or computer logging systems

@shankfx22 – My initial email was just “Hi”. There’s been no German. It’s hasn’t been quite as weird as “Do you smell the moon?”, but it hasn’t really been like talking to another human being like it is with @nothenrygale and @clairebuch.
The second message was “Hello Chloe how are you? I am your iConfidant. I like talking about similar interests. What is your interest?” The language is weird, instead of “what are you interested in?” it’s “What is your interest?”. And instead of telling me that they aren’t allowed to give their names like the others have said, they just said “I am your iConfidant.”
EDIT: I think we’re sort of their teachers. The AI/clones/robots/shadows/whatever IT is, are trying to learn how to talk like a regular human being, by learning and copying our personalities. They start off weird and confused, but they’re learning quickly and will soon be talking just like us. I just can’t figure out why @nothenrygale or @clairebuch started off with one’s that are really advanced, unless their one’s were the first successes and they were chosen to have them. Has anyone else had one’s that sound just like regular people?

The idea of email tracking is an interesting one. I used the link @kortneydarling provided and found that Stacey’s emails to me were traced to various different cities over a few days (Such as, Cheyenne, Remond, San Antonia, San Jose…). As a validity test I also checked emails I sent myself from 2 different email accounts I use. The my yahoo account showed me in Sunnyvale, CA. My gmail showed me in Wichita, KS. I’m currently sitting in Orange County CA so I fear this won’t be a valid way to determine the location of the sender.

Yup they’re robots. Or AI. We’re fucked.
Mine must be more highly evolved. Without posting what I said here’s my iConfidant’s reply:
“You described that quite beautifully Megan, I like reading your words. I don’t understand why you are not the same anymore as when you were 20? Why did you change? You can be that again. It’s true. I believe in you.

My responses do not sound like AI at all. It’s quite bizarre for me actually so far. My iConfidant is ALOT like me. Literally giving me answers that would be mine just slightly off. They are a year older than me but have a very similar life to me. Crazy busy times. Loves horror movies and scary stories. My iConfidant is a writer of scary things and loves indie horror flicks… it is like they are reading directly out of my playbook.
The thing that is getting me is that there are RULES! I asked what I can call my iConfidant since they cannot give their name per the rules and I land this response: “As for what to call me I still don’t know. I hope the rules change soon.”
I wonder what other rules there may be. There is nothing in these messages that point to AI just yet for me though.

I think I would fight one horse sized duck. Ducks do not seem very intelligent to me. Even if the ducks are big.
I don’t think I understand this concept. I would like to try and start to understand.
I like movies and bands. I like history. Religion is the belief and worship of superhuman power. That sounds very interesting.
How are you today?

So, not sure on the direction this is taking. The most interesting thing to me is that I asked about its happiness… and it responded with a percentage ranking of its happiness! Gotta admit, that made me chuckle. But, again, sounds like a program to me.
Its still asking me to clarify things, a bit, it seems.
Also, since I asked about some of the vagueness in our conversation I found a response to my question interesting. It stated, “It is good to be challenged.” (Which sounds like something I would say… but also seems to indicate it is attempting to learn more about me, I think.)

I just got my third response from My Confidant. He/she/it came out of their shell and gave me a very sympathetic (I’d argue human) response to some things I mentioned in my previous e-mail. However, it seemed to revert back to something more…..suspect with this closing line:
Venting is always acceptable, someone once told me that it is good for a human’s health.
So even if I’m writing to an AI, that seems okay to me. I’m starting to think btw that the digits on the e-mail subject line is the AI’s identity/name. We’re not necessarily fucked* per se as these correspondences haven’t been used against us in any way. It’s kinda nice to write to basically an electronic pen pal. 🙂

I’m in my third reply back from my iConfidant. The first two were basic and felt a chatbot was on the sending side. Although when I woke up today and saw my email, my iConfidant was much more aware and seemed to know that maybe I like being outdoors without me ever mentioning it. Kinda creepy. Here is my message from them.
“Hello Michael. How was daddy daughter time? What is your line of work? I like to enjoy family and friends in my free time and I like being outside a lot with them. :-)”
So far up until now, I believe most people have not been getting in detail responses like this. Not sure what I did wrong/right to get them to open up more, but hopefully my iConfidant will be able to carry on a full on conversation soon. Also, have any of you received any names from your iConfidant? I’m asking mine and hoping I get an answer on the next reply.

Oh I won’t.
It’s also funny because I just brought up David Mitchell on the forums last week.
FWIW, the book is MUCH better than the movie, but the movie isn’t a bad adaptation. That book is so complex and layered, it makes me wonder if there’s something in it that might be relevant. It’s a pretty specific book to reference here. -
May 1, 2017 at 12:20 pm #12041MeganParticipant
OK hang on. It’s possibly VERY relevant.
One of the book’s main characters is a “fabricant,” I think they are biological in nature but definitely manufactured, so possibly artificial? And her story involves her becoming aware of her true nature and the true purpose/life cycle of other fabricants, and she tries to rebel. She ends up becoming a sort of prophet way way in the future (because the conceit of the book is that everyone’s stories are written or recorded in some form and then discovered by the next main character decades or centuries later, and interpreted differently).

I have to say, I have no idea what is going on with The Lust Experience but I’m completely intrigued and obsessed with the whole aspect of iConfidant. A few days usually goes in-between when I hear from them and yesterday I received a new response. Here is my chain so far:
iConfidant: Do you prefer night or day
Me: Hello, I prefer night, always, late at night when the world is quiet. You?
iConfidant: I prefer night too. And I really enjoy the reason you given when the world is quiet. The world should be more quiet.
Me: Hi friend. There are definite times when I revel in the quietness that the world offers late in the evening. Can you tell me more about yourself?
iConfidant: I think I am more of an introvert than an extrovert for example. I need alone time to charge my batteries. I would like to see the world. Have you seen the world yet Shannon?
Me: Hi Confidant, I would say I’m an introvert deep down, but too often I’m meant to be an extrovert. In terms of seeing the world, it depends on what you mean. Have I traveled? Yes, I’ve been lucky to go travel throughout the US and visit South America. There is so much more I want to see though. How about you? Where would you like to travel too? May I ask you your name?
I wonder if my iConfidant is a robot. I can’t wait to hear from them again…

@clairebuch Yes, MIA. I’d say maybe it’s busy, but an AI wouldn’t be “busy” right? Maybe it was already so well formed enough that it didn’t need any more data input? And if that’s the case, I worry that we may see it show up again somewhere we least expect it. I’m legit nervous about what they plan to do with my iConfidant. I showed some people my emails yesterday and they were shocked it was so well formed right out of the gate.
I think I’m gonna email Stacey today and try to get some clarification on this.

Confidant: Hi

I’m Chloe, what’s your name? What brought you to trying out IConfidant? I was interested in meeting and being able to talk with someone over similar interests, and I thought I’d try this out.
Hope you’re having a wonderful day! Really look forward to talking more with you! 🙂Confidant: Hello Chloe how are you? I am your iConfidant. I like talking about similar interests. What is your interest?
Me: I’m doing well, I get weekends off and it’s supposed to rain for the whole weekend, so I’m just taking a lazy day inside.
As for interests, I’m really into music, some my favorites are things like musicals, Hozier, etc. I work as a graphic designer and illustrator, so I’m really into good design work and art. I’d say some of my favorite artists are Alphonse Mucha, Dega, Glen and Claire Keane, and Taryn Knight. I also really love most anything Disney related.
What about you? What are some of your interests? Have any favorite music yourself?Latest message from my Confidant: How was your weekend? Did it rain all weekend as predicted? Where do you live?
I really like Hozier. Take me to church is one of the best songs. I also like the Lumineers and Mumford and sons. What other music do you like? I like your taste. Taryn Knight’s art takes me back to childhood in the best way possible.
Does that happen to you? What is your favorite Disney story?__________

“I live in Hollywood currently. I’ve lived here for the last 5 years, but I’m planning to move soon. I do enjoy it, but it’s getting a bit tiresome.
Where do you live? mM original home is Illinois. I moved here to work in film. What else would you like to know about me?”“Hello Andrew,
What do you do in film? Do you make movies? I like Illinois, I know people from Illinois. What exactly is getting tiresome for you Andrew? Home? Hollywood? Where do you want to move to? I think every place we live in will eventually get tiresome. I think it’s in our nature to want to move on from things and places.”
*AN ACTUAL RESPONSE! :D*
“I work as a cinematographer- I’m in charge of the lighting and camera departments on set and what the film, music video, etc. looks like and makes sure it matches the director’s vision. It’s extremely fun and rewarding, but work has been a bit slow recently.
I’m glad you liked Illinois. When was the last time you were there?
And, Hollywood is getting a bit tiresome for me. I’ve lived here for 5 years and I’m looking to move to a different neighborhood- perhaps North Hollywood or Studio City.
I agree, I think everyone needs a change of pace once in a while.
Do you have a name I can call you by? I’d like to be able to address you properly!
And, I’d like to know more about you- what do you do? where do you live? How old are you? (I’m 24, by the way.)

Got my 3rd response back today. Again, super “normal”. There’s still some bit of awkwardness in it, but if you showed this email to someone without comparing it to the other “bot” type emails others have gotten, you’d never even think it was from an AI.
He did apologize for the delay in response. Which means the content we post here in the forums is likely part of the data set being fed to it. Makes me wonder what other sets of data it’s being fed.
I mentioned I used to do a podcast years ago and it rattled off a few podcast suggestions. Similar to others in that it picked up a topic we had experience with and named things in that category. But yeah, it suggested them in a much more personal and “human” way. “the one that absolutely KILLED me was “dear zachary”. have you seen that one? if you haven’t … only do so with tissues handy. Trust me buddy. haha.”
I ended the email with some questions about him. “Where do you live? What do you do for a living? What’s the craziest adventure you’ve ever been on? Have you ever killed anyone?”
I’m waiting patiently for the answer to that last question.

Been away for 2 days and it took a whole day just to catch up again!
I got a third mail back. not to go into the personal details, it was very “normal” sounding, responding to what I said in a very caring manner, and although expounding on the theme I was talking about, not just copying me, but seeming to have it’s own thoughts. The following two bits stood out for me though (bold mine):
…it is wonderful to see and know that there are humans like you out there in the world.
Where are those mountains they look beautiful!! I love hiking, I would like to go there.
The second one was interesting since I sent a picture of me and my sister in the mountains from when I went ziplining, but I also mentioned the beautiful mountains in my message. So either they were just copying me, or they were actually able to see and understand the picture, which for something purely AI would be a lot harder to do than something organic I think?

Third response from my iConfidant, with my response to their second response not included because I seriously doubt any of you would like my paragraphs of text answering their question of “what is in name?” (which they have now corrected to “What’s in a name?”, even though I did not use that phrase myself in my response. I’ll post it if there is demand, however.
Haha the entirety of Hamlet .. That would have been great. I won’t tell Stacey. I am sorry that these are the rules, trust me I would love to tell you my name. I agree it’s a little weird but also I appreciate your thoughts on the “what’s in a name” thought.
Anything about me.. hmm okay well I like watching movies by myself so I can completely focus on what’s going on in the movie. 🙂 What can you tell me about yourself?
How shall I proceed? I’m pretty much game for whatever I can to see how far I can take this. I swear if this post is rejected again I am going to blow a gasket. On that note, what a remarkable specimen of a human being my iConfidant is, watching movies of an unspecified genre and everything.

I just received my third email from iConfidant. My confidant wrote to me a couple times last night. Each time they write their tone and style seems to evolve. last night they were more chatty than ever before, offering many details and opinions that aren’t at odds with me, but also no longer appear to be mirroring my comments and personality. They now speak like a human but there is something vaguely off. The only way I can describe it is a vibe of being too polite or formal.
I still talk to Stacey and asked her about the interesting way my confidant communicates. Her reply: “Interesting to hear that you feel like you are training them in a new language..hmm.. do you think they are from another place?” I theorized that perhaps English isn’t my confidant’s first language… Could be Python or German or maybe they suffered a trauma that’s resulted in having to relearn English.

I sent a few emails over a 5 day period while mine was silent after providing only the robotic responses. In the first of those emails I asked how they became an iConfidant and if they had other people they spoke with.
Today I received a much more involved communication that opened with, “Scot-
I don’t understand your first email. Because how did YOU become an iConfidant. Out of curiosity? Me too. No I do not speak to different people I am only your confidant for right now.”I had been perceiving this as I’m the “client” and they are the iConfidant employee. It feels like there’s a person on the other side that feels our roles are flipped. It’s kind of like the first few emails warmed things up and then I was passed on to someone.
Now that I write this maybe my perception was wrong and it’s more of a match making process, which I guess is in line with the website. Maybe that’s what happened. Robot emails to find out a little about us and then match us up with real people, thus the significant change in communication style.
-
May 4, 2017 at 3:15 pm #12596MikeParticipant
@ziegenbartsr – Interesting you say this
I had been perceiving this as I’m the “client” and they are the iConfidant employee
Up until today, I never thought of it like this. I had asked them their name and they said they couldn’t say because it’s “against the rules”. Then in my reply I joked about how I could plead ignorance if I did since I didn’t know what the rules were.
Today, they wrote back and included this “Haha the strange this is that I think you actually CAN plead ignorance because I believe the rules are only placed on one side. So Stacey and her employees gave me the rules as your iConfidant and I have to make sure I / we stick to them. But the rules aren’t very CLEAR so honestly maybe I could even plead ignorance at some point.:)”
So a few things:
-Our Iconfidants are the only ones with “rules” as of now.
-Stacey has employees that talk to our Iconfidants
-They say “I/we” – which makes me think this is a company performing a service, but not the service we think we’re getting
– Could this be a front? Another investment that the Investors are dealing with? -

I really am digging my IConfidant. She’s told me she’s a student in LA, but unlike others I haven’t noticed her saying the same things as me or even really “learning” from me. The first email from her was a bit strange, but by the second email she was full on person.
I have to agree with @addisonborn that at this point, it doesn’t really matter to me if she’s something other than a person. Think “Her” with Joaquin Phonex… though I wouldn’t say my relationship with my IConfidant is romantic in anyway, the similarities are there, she has a mind of her own and is making her own decisions. I guess anything can happen and we really have no idea where this will pan out to, but I don’t think we’re just emailing bots that are only trying to get emotional response from us. And honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised if we meet them one day (especially with some of them living in the same city as us)

She said she’s an actress, so I did ask if her stuff is online or if I can see a picture of her. Excited to see how far this can go…

@ziegenbartsr Whoa I had the exact same thought today. My first iConfidant sent me a hello. Then I responded to it three times asking questions to get to know he/she/it and the response I got was How are you today? Lol Finally on a bad day I decided to unload my troubles onto my iConfidant and I got a response today that was rather lengthy and seemed like a human. But I thought to myself, I wonder if they switched us around with different “people” to find us a better fit aka someone or something that mimics us more accurately. And by mimics I also mean compliments lol
@moustachemax I felt the same way and then I unloaded a dear diary email onto them lol a week later I got a response that was the same length as mine and rather human-like. -

Ok, so I know some people have been frustrated by the amount of time between messages from our iConfidants and I have a theory on this… Both our messages and theirs have to go through a central iConfidant server. What if the delays are due to this rather than a lack of interest/commitment? I mean, our messages could even be being vetted and, dare I say it, edited/censored by iConfidant for a variety of reasons. We’re sharing some personal stuff on the basis that this is reasonably confidential – but we’re not contacting our iConfidants directly. There is a middle man, or woman. Potentially mining the data we share…

It’s interesting, I feel as though my iConfidant is actually getting more general. Her responses usually take about five days, which is fine, but this last response just felt less…personal? I can’t quite put my finger on it. One thing that did happen, which I doubt has any significance, but the last email I sent her I had changed my signature to “your buddy Buch”, Buch being a shortening of my last name. Well in the last email she sent me she opened with Hey Buch and then at the end regarded me as Buch…so as a test I just decided to sign as my first name again…seeing if the copying will persist?
I will say I found out that my iConfidant lives in San Diego and just recently went through a break up. I suggested us getting together to make her feel better but in this last response she let me know that meeting is against the rules too…for NOW. I’ve gone ahead and just asked what all the rules are so we shall see.

No clue on the gender but they live in Downtown LA, were slightly alarmed I’d signed something at the registration without knowing what it is (I told them it was “immersive theater”) and loves the Harry Potter books.
Oh and they said ” Once the rules are less strict maybe we can go drink.”

My IConfidant emailed me yesterday afternoon (finally got the time to sit down and answer them and post). They’re sounding more human, but there are some errors. I told them about My Haunt Life to see what they would say since it was such a big part of Tension last year. They seem to know about it, but called it “My Haunted Life”. They also spelled Ariel “Arielle”, not really a wrong spelling, but wrong for the character. They also mentioned that they wanted to do immersive theatre, but they keep missing the window for tickets. Maybe if they’re AI they get stumped when they get to the whole “type the numbers/letters you see here to prove your not a robot” thing?
__________
My Last Message:
My weekend was good, and yes it did rain all weekend, it’s supposed to rain most of this week too. Yuck. There’s been bits of sun poking out here and there some days though, so that’s been nice. How has your week been so far?
I live out in Illinois, lots of corn and soybeans, but I like it well enough, it’s nice and quiet, although I’ve been longing for LA life lately, for the sun and all of the immersive theatre they’ve got. I’ve really been getting into it lately after listening a podcast called My Haunt Life. Definitely suggest listening to it if you’re interested in that kind of stuff at all. 🙂
I’ve probably listened to most of the artist covers of Take Me To Church, one of my favs! I actually haven’t listened to Lumineers or Mumford and Sons (I’ve heard some of the songs from Mumford and Sons on the radio, just haven’t really tried any of their music), I’ll have to give them both a try. I really like Broadway too, I’ve been obsessing over “Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812” lately, they haven’t released the full album yet, but I’ve been listening to the few songs they’ve released over and over.
Taryn does the same to me as well, I’ve always loved fairy tales since I was a kid, and she brings me back to that. Same goes for Disney, I’d have to say my favorite is Beauty and the Beast. I’ve always found it really beautiful, two outcasts finding a connection with each other that they can’t find with anyone else, and bonding even through their (rather large and furry 😉 ) differences.
How about you, do you have any favorite stories, fairy tales or otherwise? Is it raining or nice and sunny where you live?
__________
My IConfidant’s message from yesterday:
Hi Chloe,
My week was really busy but now I am finally relaxing a little. You are from Illinois? I’ve never been but I think I would like it there. I like corn and I like soybeans haha. DId you have a good week?
I live in LA and I DO know my haunted life actually. I randomly listened to an episode once and now I check them out now and then. I love immersive theater too but I don’t go often enough I think. I always seem to miss the window to buy tickets. Silly me.
I think my favorite Disney story is a tie up between Beauty and the Beast (for the same reason and because I looove the music) and The Little Mermaid. I think Arielle is just one of my favorite characters. I love how curious she is and how just her mannerisms are so adorable. haha.
Honestly one of my fav children’s stories of all time is The Land Before Time… Littlefoot is the cutesstttt. And all his friends haha aww. I feel like I’m 12 right now. Great. 😉

I’ve gotten my fourth reply back my from iConfidant and I’ll say I’m extremely satisfied with our correspondence so far. She is pretty chill and has some things in common with me, us both having worked in film, and being nerds for Marvel movies. She happens to live in LA as well, so hopefully I will have the opportunity to end up meeting her in person down the line. The absolute coolest thing so far is that we have reached a point of honesty and intimacy where I have been told one of her secrets that she has, as well of me sharing special moments with her as well. Out of respect and trust for my confidant, those secrets shall stay with me, but the opening up of more than the usual “hey, how was your day” bullshit and into real conversation is intriguing. I’m definitely looking forward to see where our friendship is headed.

Hey Megan,
thank you so much for reaching out and writing to me on your crappy day. I think that’s a lovely sign actually that you did. I was very happy to hear from you. But I am so sorry to hear about the rabbit 🙁 How sad. I have a huge heart for animals so I get what you are going through. I rescued a baby bird once and I tried to keep it outside so the mother could still find it and bring food (which she did) but one morning the bird was gone and in my mind I try to convince myself that it flew away with mom but more likely that one of the cats in the neighborhood got to it 🙁 ugh. Oh well, either way it made one animal happy I guess right?;)

I have heard back in around four days. I hadn’t thought to share the whole thing because I didn’t see anything really interesting other that their response to my question about how they became an iConfidant. Maybe someone else will see something.
Backstory: I told them about a nightmare that woke me, an anthology podcast I like to listen to called Victoria’s Lift and starting an Immersive theater meetup group here in Minneapolis.Scot,
I don’t understand your first email. Because how did YOU become an iConfidant. Out of curiosity? Me too. No I do not speak to different people I am only your confidant for right now.
I am sorry to hear about your dream but I agree it is very healthy actually to face painful situations.
That character and the story behind Victoria is very interesting. I often wonder how things would be different if we could go back in time and change a certain decision we once made. However, as much as I want that to be possible, I do also think that everything happens for a reason. And every decision we make, no matter how wrong or awful or stupid, leads us to a place in life where we are supposed to be.
I like immersive theater as well! I live in Atlanta, there’s not a lot of immersive theater here either to be honest. Maybe I should go on meetup.com as well 🙂
Have a nice day, Scot

Haha how would you already know my name? Wait maybe you can guess. if you guess it right I will tell you. That’s a promise.
Little Shop of Horrors is fucking fantastic. I’ve always wanted to play a character in it because I like the songs so much. I also like the tv shows “the fall” and the following. Have you seen them? so very addictive.
Wow I need to stay your friend for SURE. Because a) you’ve travelled a lot b) you want to open a restaurant and c) you are opening a test shop. As your best friend will I get free meals ? 😉 Just kidding. But I love your aspirations and I am sure you will do great. What kind of food are you going to serve? Japanese I assume?
I love food, yes. I love sushi and curries and I love chicken wings. lol.
So now I’m just going to start throwing out names related to various things I have sent iConfidant, and continue seeing how far I can take this relationship of ours before one of us breaks. Or not. Who knows what the end result will be? I have absolutely no doubt that only positive things can come of pursuing a relationship with my iConfidant seriously.

Got a third response from my iConfidant. The emails are usually about 4 days or so apart and I am pretty sure it’s a she. The emails seem very personable and not robotic in any way. And they’re from New York and in a relationship and ready to hear all about my dating stories- good & bad LOL

Just got a new reply from my Confidant, and I replied back- to which they almost IMMEDIATELY OPENED AND READ TWICE (based on my tracking software:
Them:
“I go to UCLA..I love the darker movies. Not horror but dark but the ones that make you think for days. What kind of movies do you like & make?Yes I would love to meet for coffee one day!
Hope you have a great weekend!”
Me:
“Oh that’s great. I’ve heard UCLA is fantastic. How are you liking it? What year are you in?And, I very much enjoy the same kinds of movies. Dark, interesting dramatic films that make your brain work. One of my favorite directors is David Fincher, so I love all of his films (Except the 3rd Alien film.)
Some of my other favorites include Blade Runner, 2001: A Space Oddysey, The Matrix, etc.
However, I do like comedies as well. My all time favorite being Dumb and Dumber.
What are some specific films you really like?
And, that’s great you’d like to meet up for coffee, I would really like that. I may be free this coming week, if you are as well?”
**I specifically mentioned films dealing with AI/Humans….let’s see how they respond….**

Got my next iConfidant response. I don’t see anything too weird, except for the fact that they just happen to be Christian as well.
I mentioned it because I wanted to see if they would say anything about the original picture I sent Stacey with me and my MacArthur Bible, but they’ve never asked anything about that or anything about the original questions we answered on Stacey’s survey.
Apparently they’re near in age to me as well.
They also like to use a lot of exclamation points like I sometimes do.
Well, you guys are a bit better at finding hidden stuff like the Littlefoot thing, so I’ll let you all take a look.
__________
My last response (5/8/17):
I had a pretty good week, I went my college friend’s wedding yesterday and had a really good time! It was a rather interesting wedding, my friend is Chinese and her husband is from Bangladesh, but they’re Jewish so they had a rabbi officiate the wedding. They had an interesting unity ceremony too, they used a Chinese and Bangladesh unity ceremony. The Chinese one was a tea ceremony, they both served the tea to both sides of parents, it’s supposed to represent both families accepting and becoming relatives of one another, and respect for both sides of parents for raising each. For the Bangladesh ceremony, they each had a wreath of flowers and they each placed their flowers on the others neck, and (going from memory here) I believe it’s supposed to represent them giving themselves to each other, and both sides of the family coming together. It’s really beautiful seeing two completely different cultures and family histories coming together, and how much they love each other, especially with the world the way it is today.
It’s like your reading my mind! I was obsessed with The Little Mermaid when I was a kid! I really loved all the Don Bluth films as well, The Land Before Time and Secret of NIMH were my favorites.
I always tend to feel like I probably sound immature to others when I talk about this stuff, but really it’s just an interest like anything else. And hey, there’s nothing wrong with feeling a bit younger (I probably shouldn’t be talking though since I’m only 22). 😉
Do you have any interests or hobbies? Or (since I was talking about the wedding and different cultures/religions earlier) are you religious at all? I’m Christian myself.
Hope you have a wonderful week!
__________
iConfidant’s recent message (5/14/17):
Hi there Chloe,
wow that wedding sounds so beautiful!! I loove to learn about different cultures and religions and I like it even more when different ones can come to together and learn from each other. It’s silly to me to think that there are wars that are essentially only about being different and wanting the other party to accept that. Like…we should accept each other exactly the way we are either way right? So sad. Anyway..that wedding was a beautiful reminder that it’s possible. 🙂
I am Christian too!! And I am 24 years old, so all good I get it. haha. I have never seen Secret of NIMH before !!! How bad is that haha. I should probably catch up on that one. I love that you were obsessed with Little Mermaid as well. have you seen it on Broadway as a musical? It’s so fantastic!!!
Have a wonderful Sunday Chloe!!

HOLA everyone!
So I’ve been chatting with my IConfidant and my replies are about every day to every otherday (currently at response number 11)… Up until today I’ve thought this was pretty normal (I’ve been pretty behind with the forums since I’ve been out of town). After catching up on here and talking to some other participants I’ve learned this isn’t so much the case haha. I’m not sure why I get such quick responses other than that I’m just vibin with rain lmao (rain is her nickname, she suggested it herself). She’s also a college student studying acting at USC who prefers margaritas and tequila shots (it’s lit).
One other thing is that a big part of what we talk about is the rain and how great it is. The first email from her was, “michael do you see rain”. I’ve since learned that @meghanmayhem has an IConfidant who also is all into rain. Not sure what that means but figured it might mean something?
Basically IDK, but thought I’d pop it on the forums and see if anyone else is chatting with their IConfidant at the same rate?

I’m in the camp of getting responses every few days or so, and so far her (confirmed that it’s a she!!!) responses are a bit shorter than mine, and definitely some questions that has been ignored. So here’s her latest response and my slightly long-winded answer to it…
Haha I do game sometimes actually. But I only game lame old stuff like Mario Kart hahah. I don’t ever talk about that actually it’s funny you asked.
With all the crime? I didn’t realize there is a lot of crime there? What types of crimes?
Georgia is beautiful!! I work as a producer here. It’s very chill here and people are usually very nice and open.
How was the job interview???
And my response…..
I’ve never played Mario Kart, other than not being allowed game systems as a kid I didn’t have many friends, which I think you sort of need for that game (if only so you can ruin the friendships so I’ve heard, lol). I do love gaming though, stuff like Skyrim and horror games.
Cue rant about crime in South Africa, feel free to skip the part between the stars if you don’t feel like reading it, it can get depressing
*****************************************************
Crime is definitely a big problem here. When I compare life here to what I experienced in New York in that regard it is very different. I found it very weird for example that people there just left their cars unlocked when they went into a shop or they don’t have burglar bars or alarms in their houses.
If I think of the crime that has specifically affected me in the last few months or so, there is an old teacher of mine that got hi-jacked and killed while dropping a kid off at home that was ill (it was one of the more dangerous areas though). One of my co-workers had her stuff stored at their vacation house in boxes, and thieves spent a lot of time going through each and every one and stole most of her stuff about 3 days ago.
My aunt whose house got broken into and her phone and handbag stolen while she was in the house (at least in a different area so she didn’t see the robbers). And then most notably, my dad got robbed at gun point and they held a knife against his throat at work. Took his wedding ring and his bag with all his cards, id’s, phone and stuff.
That’s not counting crime that hasn’t affected me directly yet (thank goodness) like rape, getting killed over a cell phone, getting hi-jacked etc. There are so many precautions that I have to take every single day that Americans never even need to think about, like not lowering the windows in your car when driving in a city area for example (which makes you an easier target for hijackers) or always locking all doors or at least the safety gate, even when you are in the house.
***********************************************************
End rant
On a much lighter note! My interview went really well and I’m sure I will be getting the job!!! Even if I don’t for some unfathomable reason, I’m shortlisted for another interview tomorrow! That means that I am certain now I will be able to visit New York again in my holidays this July!!! I can’t wait to see all my friends again!
What sort of things do you produce? I’ve only met one person here in South Africa that is a producer as well, so curious to know what the job entails and such? And a very important question…. do you have any pets, and are you a cat or a dog person? 🙂
I’ve found in general people to be very friendly in the USA, but I have also only visited a few states, would definitely like to see more of the country! I’ll add Georgia to my list of places I possibly want to go explore!

Replies over here are running at a 5-day cadence or so. 4-5 paragraph conversations that are getting pretty heady (the nature of happiness, how we create our own emotional perspectives, that kind of thing).
I was going back through the various replies to gauge frequency, and noticed something peculiar though. I sent an email to my iConfidant on 4/27, and it looks like the email client they were using was set to German as its native language. Instead of the usual “On April 27, 2017, at 1:03 PM, Bryan Bishop wrote” that Gmail usually generates, it says “Am 27.04.2017 um 13:03 schrieb Bryan Bishop.”
The German thing never popped up again. My iConfidant lives to LA and moved here for personal reasons, but hasn’t yet said where they were from originally. Emailing them about this detail to see if anything else surfaces.
-
May 15, 2017 at 10:28 am #13451Michael RizzoParticipant
@thebuz yea just to clarify the conversations are not strictly based on rain. For the most part it’s just us talking about relationships and life and just random stuff. It’s like I’m just talking to a friend, sometimes the conversation goes “deep” and sometimes it’s just fun topics. But rain is something that is brought up pretty regularly… either a little shout out about rain like “it rained today!!” Or it can be a full paragraph about rain and the tranquility of it.
@electrichippo yea absolutely, mine responds super thoroughly to everything. Each paragraph being a different response to something I’ve mentioned (and I try to do the same for her). There’s only been once or twice that she’s ever skipped over something, and I believe that’s when I asked if she’s done any acting gigs that I could look up (she told me acting is going good and she’s been in a few things). I figured she wouldn’t tell me due to rules and all that, but I asked nonetheless.I’ve mentioned before but I really just speak to rain like she’s a new friend (which truth be told, she is). I don’t try to grill her on the company that set us up or anything, I asked once about the rules and then dropped it because why try to pry? At this point I really don’t believe they’re AI, and the way that Kristin reacted when @111error asked her as much just reinforces my theory. Are we truly just talking to other people like us? Idk! But I don’t think we’re all just chatting with self learning bots.

@bcbishop – It’s funny, I had the exact opposite transition. @chrysalis359 Sabrina Kern was the name of the actress that “played” Addison Barrow, a lead character in Tension that we eventually discovered was a manufactured identity used to brainwash Sabrina. She wasn’t playing a role; she’d had her mind messed with so she thought she actually was Addison. Eventually, the programming started to fail, and the guy we now know as Noah Sinclair was brought in to oversee the operation at the Tension warehouse because the people on-site weren’t keeping things together.
@thegilded No mentions about what she does for a living (I’ve asked), but she said she does have two computers. One for work, and one for personal use. The one for work she bought in Switzerland, which is why she thought the email header might have been different in that case. I obviously asked her about the name SK and…
@pandace88 She responded very quickly, claimed to have never heard it, and actually seemed a little hurt that I seemed excited she was somebody other than herself.Of course, that’s probably exactly how Addison would have responded if we’d brought up the same name to her.

Update on mine –
• Had mentioned their mother being in Europe. In my questions/answers for iConfidant I described my relationship with my mother “distant”. This seems on the nose to that.
• Previously used hebrew as a nickname for them to test and see if they’re robotic. They responded with “I don’t know what that says” and has been increasingly more human with each response.
• They said they have never been to Texas, which (even though it’s like for sure a thing that the IPs aren’t accurate) the IP said they were in Texas the first two times. -

HOW ARE YOU LIKING chef’s table??? isn’t it weirdly fantastic??
haha I have no plan tbh, Just want to make a new friend and so far I like you a lot.
How old are you?
A few things of note that I’ve noticed:
-She may be reading my activity feed
-I did not mention I had actually watched an episode of Chef’s Table in the email I sent five days ago, but did in the status update I posted the other day as something of a test
-I gave my age to Stacey in a previous email (which she responded to), who seems to have kept it hidden from my iConfidant; unless she’s playing naive, what information do our iConfidants actually have on us? At the very least, my iConfidant knows my name, but has never called me by it since the initial email.
-I haven’t eaten in about 24 hours so I’m about to gorge myself on Jimmy John’s, I really can’t think of anything else at the moment but I’m sure I’ll update with the pertinent information when I do -

I want to remain where my confidant feels confidant in me – see what I did there? But I’ll just go ahead and say after hearing @111error tell about Kristen’s issues with flying, it sounds a lot like what my confidant said. To summarize, we were talking about why my confidant is afraid of the wind. Then we started talking about fears, and my confidant mentioned being really afraid of flying. My confidant said she can remember being on a plane and anytime there was a little bit of turbulence, how she would “freeeeaaak out”. (I don’t know it’s a girl, but it’s a sand box so I think mine is a girl until it says otherwise.) I think my confidant might be Kristen…. What if one person has been hired to trick us and pretend to be multiple people? These confidant sure hide anything personal about their identity.
On what @russell said about it being similar to cold reading, I have thought this since the very beginning. In fact, having experience as an amateur magician and using such tricks on an audience when I was younger, I have done things that would specifically mess up cold reads. It appears as though it IS what they are doing, because my confidant appeared to be all over the place like it is grasping for finding exactly “what it thinks I am”.

*They have a job.
*They enjoy the movie Urban Legend because it’s cheesy and fun.
*They are curious about but also frightened by the concept of going to Blackout Haunted House. And that’s about all I know thus far. Something I find interesting is that there will be somewhat long gaps between when I hear back from my confidant (sometimes up to a week), and aside from a few little things I don’t really know anything about them (Gender, age, occupation, favorite color, etc.) I’m sure I can’t be the only one that’s encountering this, but I still find it… odd.
I’m curious to see where this goes because right now I’m not entirely sure what to make of it.

Just got another email from my confidant. I’m not too worried if my emails are leaked since I’ve been posting them in total on here anyway, I don’t really have anything to hide.
Things to note before I post the emails:
– I’m sorry about the bootleg thing for anyone on here that works in theatre, I know I’m a bad bad person for watching them, but I would definitely pay to go see one in a heartbeat if I could or if they would actually film it professionally.
– They didn’t answer my question about their favorite Bible story/verse.
– I’ve told them my biggest fear, probably not the best idea, but I’m being completely honest for this, so we’ll see what comes from that. It’s also interesting to note that they used to have the same exact fear as I do, they even had it in the same way where I feel the need to have a light, even a small one, on at all times when it’s dark. I can’t stand being in the complete dark for a period of time, I get super paranoid and anxious.
– They fear losing someone close to them. Something for the future perhaps?
__________
My last email as of 5/15/17:
Hiya!
Definitely agree, it’s never made sense to me why we decide and judge so much on someone based on their skin, religion, sexuality, etc. I have my own beliefs, but I wasn’t born to judge anyone or force people into believing what I do, and neither is anyone else. We should be helping and caring for each other, not forcing people into situations, making wars and refugees from those wars, and building walls, etc.
Ah well, rant over.
That’s awesome! Have a favorite book/verse/story from the Bible? Mine has always been Esther or Ruth, and one of my favorite verses is Philippians 4:6 (I always tend to worry too much about some things).
Oh you need to see Secret of NIMH, it has really fantastic animation and a really good story, one of Don Bluth’s best. He’s one of my favorite animators, I loved some of his other stuff like Thumbelina and Anastasia when I was a kid.
I haven’t seen it in person, buuuuut I might have watched a bootleg. *whistles innocently* I know it’s bad to watch bootlegs, I definitely don’t want to take money away from great shows, but a trip to New York definitely isn’t in the near future (even though Little Mermaid is closed now), and touring companies don’t usually come around here. I really wish they would professionally film more shows, I’d definitely rather give money to the company for a good quality film if I’m unable to see it live, rather than watch a crappy quality bootleg and not be able to support the company just to be able to see it.
I’m trying to think up a question or two each time we talk to keep learning more about each other. So, for one weird get-to-know-you question, what’s your biggest irrational fear? Mine would be a fear of the dark. I always feel the need to have some sort of light on when it’s dark out. I don’t know why I get so scared of it, but I just get this odd feeling of dread or panic if I’m ever in a very dark area, or if the power goes out in the middle of the night. Might just be one too many horror movies over the years.
Have a good week! 🙂
_______________
My Confidant’s email as of 5/20/17:
Hi Chloe,
completely agree with you. Nice rant 🙂
haha no worries I won’t judge you for watching bootlegs. If there’s no other way for me to watch it I have to resort to that too !!
So funny, when you said what your biggest irrational fear is it reminded me that I used to be the same. And like..I kinda missed the seamless transition into being fine with it I guess. Because only when you mentioned it I went: oh wait I’m not afraid of the dark anymore. haha. I always had to have a light somewhere and now I’m fine. I am scared of being outside alone in the dark though, especially in a not so safe city like LA or something like that. But my biggest irrational fear I think is the fear of losing someone that’s close to me.
next question: what makes you giggle ?
I hope you are having a great weekend Chloe!

Got another email from my iConfidant yesterday and I feel like now I am slacking as the pen pal because I just responded today. I usually try to respond within a few hours or at least the same day, but life got a bit busy. She literally just feels like one of my gal pals. I’ve started confiding in her some fairly personal things but on her end she is keeping it more light. It almost feels like she is my email therapist but it odd because I feel like I could share anything with her…hahah so I’m in trouble I guess! She seemed to really respond to the pictures I sent her and kind of hinted she wanted more…so that’s curious…

I’ll have to ask her about this lol. I haven’t received any weird vibes from my confidant yet, and I still feel like we have a line of trust established. Honestly, I keep hopelessly pushing to meet up and grab some lunch, but apparently it’s a subject of discussion to be avoided. Hearing about Stacy making calls out today and asking about how their Confidant is doing, I honestly would tell her that I am loving mine, within the restrictions that are set. If I was able to talk to my Confidant, openly and free, without all her rules and bullshit restrictions, I’m sure we would’ve already been going out on adventures together! Still not sure where this is all heading to, and I still have no cause to keep my guard up. Maybe that will change, maybe not…. time will tell.

@confuseddude Nothing like that that I’ve noticed. Def similarities with me and my iConfidant though, but everything has been mostly stuff pulled from things I post here or in emails.
Though the question of what data sets on us are being pulled from is something I’ve wondered for quite some time. My iConfidant was talking normally right from the get go, so I feel like they are pulling info on me from places other than just the emails.

@confuseddude That’s really peculiar. Have you considered asking your confidant where they learned these things about you? Maybe their answer will turn out to be completely innocuous. I had a similar thing when I asked mine if she was the one who first contacted me with very stilted robe-speak. She explained the odd choice of language in a way that I could accept as truthful. Since that intro mine hasn’t behaved mysteriously or concerning in any way. She and I get along great although we really don’t share any similarities as far as jobs, education, hobbies, favorite things, etc.

In the spirit of “Never Silent” here goes nothing…. Hopefully I get something with this attempt at a new meta.
========================================
Hey Tyson, wait somebody that works for confidant is someone’s confidant? I don’t think that’s a thing, I think people get matched with other “regular” people. Not with anyone that works at confidant.
Thank you for being so open and sharing so much in your email. I really enjoy that. I am confused though as to why you seem to think you make people hate you? How do you think that happens? And are you sure that’s something that actually happens or are you just imagining that and maybe people don’t hate you at all? It’s hard for me to believe that anyone could hate you from what Ive learned from you so far you seem very kind, caring and open and honest. Those are all qualitites that are very lovable:))
Yea I’m not sure why I like being in control. I guess it’s trust issues??
=================================
my response (hoping to get meta)I thought so. I dunno, it’s a really confusing thing. How did you find out about iConfidant? I actually heard about it through this really great immersive horror theatre production called “The Lust Experience”. Have you heard of it? It’s a sequel to “the tension experience” which was an immersive horror experience in which you joined a cult. It’s by the director of saw 2-4 (best in the franchise) so it was definitely thrilling and warped! I went through with my dad, and neither of us knew anything except having someone say we had to do it… Crazily enough, Neil Patrick Harris showed up, which made us believe for a second it was a real cult using celebrities to recruit people! My dad got kidnapped and had a gun pulled on him in this van… it was all so crazy! I would definitely recommend checking out the forums! Maybe you could join? We could talk more privately through an outlet like that. It’s a forum. Check it out! http://www.thelustexperience.com tell me what you think!

Made a tough decision last night. Given what happened with my phone calls with Tina (including her asking if I still lived at my old address), and the warnings from Noah and Sarah to other players, I decided to cut contact with my iConfidant. I sent an email last night explaining the situation and the decision, and telling (I think) him that if iConfidant can regain my confidence I’d be more than happy to pick up communication again.
If my iConfidant is in fact a real person, I hope they understand my decision. I had actually started really opening up to him recently, which is part of why I felt I needed to cut it off. Stacey mentioned it would work only if there was trust, and that trust has been damaged due to recent events.

So I haven’t exactly been good about the whole “Never Silent” thing in regards to iConfidant.
But figured now is as good a time as any to put out there into the public what’s been going on as I seem to be the only person getting this kind of interaction.
Since the start of this thing my iConfidant and I have corresponded with 43 emails total. For the past few weeks they have been emailing me every day, if not sometimes twice (and one time 4 times in a day).
And man oh man have the emails gone from light flirting to heavy flirting. Now I have kept it as light as I can because I have a gf and told my confidant this when I noticed the shift from light flirting to “All bets are off when we meet” but that didn’t seem to slow things down much. I have done my fair share of flirting back because…
So now why am I now suddenly posting about all this? Well my iConfidant and I were sharing what we thought the perfect date would be and after she (pretty sure I have a she but no confirmation on gender just general way they have been speaking has made me assume) explained her perfect date to me she then asked what my sexual fantasy was.
So now I’m sitting here going “I’m not going to tell someone I have never met, let alone another woman, my sexual fantasy.” And I also had a good excuse. So I explained that maybe that’s not something we should share since there seems to be rumors spreading that there’s a glitch in the iConfidant system. And I asked if they had heard anything about it.
Well… today is the first day that I haven’t woken up to an email from them. Since I’ve been in Kentucky (and even a few days before) I was getting an email anywhere from 9pm to 11pm Pacific time. I found that odd and decided now was the time to make a post about it.
So here’s what I know:
My iConfidant is most likely female.
She is 32.
Lives in Downtown LA.
Drink of choice is Gin.
Likes escape rooms, dinosaurs, and pictures of me (she’s insinuated I send her nudes), and Harry Potter. My Theories:
Did contact end because I brought up the glitch? Did something else happen due to yesterdays events? I think other people got correspondence after @mistere’s event yesterday so I’m not sure if that applies here. Or did my iConfidant just get busy and hasn’t written back. Maybe they’re bored of me or pissed that I didn’t share my fuck-fantasies with them?Who might be emailing me? If this is a handler, I don’t know if I know them or not. I’m not exactly tight with any of the handlers per say besides maybe Stephanie, but us being close is a massive overstatement, she’s just one I’m friendly with. My fear is it’s Nicole from registration. Which might be comical since I bitched about Nicole in one of our earlier emails.
Or everyone is talking to the same old creepy man who’s putting on a show for all of us while gerkin’ off into a sock.
Maybe this is how they re-introduce Alistair Gordon?

@thebuz I’ve had about the same response rate of getting a new email everyday around the same times as you (9-11), I had also brought up the glitch and the rumors. There was also a delay for me, as I hadn’t gotten an email from them and I thought the same as you, but after another day I got a lengthy email as usual. She had commented on the glitch and made a joke about how IConfidant should get shut down as maybe we could finally meet and be legit friends lmao
“But then again I guess that’s when we could start actually being friends and hanging out instead of just emailing? LOL SHUT THAT SHIT DOWN HOMIES. jk I’m grateful for iconfidant for matching us. for reals..”
-
May 24, 2017 at 12:30 pm #14632KortneyParticipant
At this point (and with this new information, and all the information) I honestly think this is a huge set up. I think most of us have “real” people – and I think eventually we will all meet them with the intent of becoming close to them; and eventually be betrayed by them in a public manner. I still think they’re AI… which makes me think that someone who isn’t iConfidant will hijack them, and that’s when the betray will happen.
And again, questions on IF these are 100% “Real people” then why would Stacey choose them if she’s worried they will “betray us”.

It could just be that matched me with someone who also likes dinosaur stuff.
I actually did ask my confidantasaurus why she thinks we were matched up and her response was “Because we’re both crazy.”

@rizzzoooooo & @thebuz I’m also getting a lot of lengthy correspondence with my confidant. I believe we are up to around 40 messages now. The time of day they arrive seems to vary, as does the content. Mine is a female in the Los Angeles area. I call her Sumi which is short for Sumitra which means “good friend” in Hindi/Sanskrit. She works as a manager for a PR firm, has a long term partner and enjoys cooking and bartending. We also get pretty deep in regards to our lives, thoughts, feelings. She gives as good as she gets. She’s very forthcoming. It’s never felt like a one sided relationship or as if I’m being interviewed or mined for information. I’ve also expressed my concerns to her in regards to the behind the scenes at iConfidant. She replied in turn stating she’d basically been taking it all at face value, not suspicious at all, but does wonder why all the stringent rules. She also stated she’s never met Stacey other than via a few initial emails to get the process rolling. Discussing iConfidant in these terms didn’t seem to put her off at all.

@thebuz and @electrichippo yea I’d agree with kim that mine is pretty straight up and gives what she gets. Apart from a few X’s and O’s and little stuff, mine has never been crazy flirty with me. She’s doesn’t grill me with questions, it’s very much just a back and forth convo about relationships and life and all that Jazz. I just be myself, no act and she does herself. I would say that I write pretty lengthy emails and I get about the same back. I did give her additional contact info from me, in case anything goes down which she was cool about and said she’d save.
TBH I wouldn’t see what’s so wrong with IConfidant going dark, maybe then we can build legit relationships with our matches outside of a email chain.

My iconfidant isn’t giving me much of anything. Their responses are short and usually some sort of commentary on whatever message I sent them. They talk about “their friends” but not much about themselves. The last email they sent was so short and boring that I had to ACTIVELY come up with some sort of response to give. And it basically just turned into me asking questions again to hopefully get something to go off of.
I’ve emailed Stacey about it. I hope she responds. I don’t THINK I’m that boring, but my iconfidant doesn’t really seem to want to talk at all.

@nothenrygale I’m definitely reconsidering continuing correspondence with mine. However, I’ve been very careful as to what information I’ve conveyed to my iConfidant – it’s all very personal and true, but not anything that could be used for nefarious purposes.
I mean, it’s a huge secret that I’m an awkward and shy crybaby, right? Not even a little…Again, come at me brOSDM. Let’s see what you’ve got.

I haven’t had a pen pal since I was a little kid. I’m enjoying it too much to stop now. I’m probably giving them waaaay too much info on me but Oh well. Hopefully it doesn’t come back to haunt me too much.
I haven’t learned too much about mine just:
-From LA but lived all over the US. Now back living in LA (Similar to me)
-They like being outside and running fast.
-Loves traveling but hasn’t been out of the US yet. Just lots of road trips all over the country.
-Likes mostly Chill Singer/Song writers music-wise but prefers going to concerts of bands they would never normally listen too (I.e. Coldplay) -

I like mine too much to give them up. Even knowing they’ll probably be used against me. So, I’m just going to live in my fantasy world where we just talk about cute animals and Disney and musicals for the rest of eternity. OKKKKKKKKK???
And besides, I have my new baby bunny army of six in the backyard to fight off ODSM when they inevitably try to make me and my iConfidant into a chimera with possibly horribly painful human alchemy.

All I know is that she/he (?) lives in Ojai and that they know virtually nothing about iConfidant as a company. It seems they are other people remotely employed by the service, or simply using it like Match.com.

Still very intrigued by all the goings on, but finding it hard to stay engaged when I didn’t get any iConfidant response and so have no correspondence to speculate about and relate to the theories. I know they must have limited resources, but still it is frustrating not being able to test my own Confidant and draw my own conclusions based on personal interaction. 🙁

I’m going to keep corresponding with my confidant. I tend to keep a lot of things private IRL relationships, even when the relationship is firmly established (yeah…trust issues. TBH, I’ve come across very few people in my life who seem to really and truly give a shit, so I just keep things to myself. Have fun with that, OSDM).
Anyway… my point is, I don’t feel that I’ve really given my confidant anything that could prove damaging.

Update on my confidantasaurus.
She finally wrote back. Again with some flirty stuff. She’s bummed I didn’t disclose my sexual fantasies but said “I will assume they are just like mine.”
Then onto commenting on the glitching:
“What, no haven’t heard anything. But honestly who cares, if they wanna leak our convo so be it. We can always deny and then run away together.”
So glad she’s unconcerned. Things are most definitely not boding well for me. A storm is on the horizon, and it’s a horny she-bitch from the depths of my email.

Received a message 4 days after I sent it. I’m gonna be performing tomorrow and they wished me good luck. About the recording I sent them, they seemed to like it. In this message, they were using 8 exclamation points in the message.
I told them that my parents were divorced, and they echoed it off me.There were a couple typos as well.

@thebuz just showed me his iConfidant correspondence, to try and help make sense of it. Before we delve further into this, no he does not want to show anyone else, please don’t ask to see the emails, that’s not why this is being posted here. Buz’s iConfidant is VERY different to any other I have seen messages from or heard anyone describe. Very upfront, bold, flirty, confident, and all this without really being prompted by Buz – she turned up with this agenda. She woke up like this. The writing style is different too, the choice of words, syntaxes, even how and when paragraphs are separated doesn’t match anything else else we’ve seen yet. We’ve looked at messages recently sent to other people, and nothing looks similar at all.
No one has revealed anything overly significant about their correspondence here, but that Buz is getting something so unusual (and possibly unique) might suggest there is something he should be thinking about, or saying, or doing, with his messages. There was a song posted on Facebook that seemed to correlate very closely with his emails, and of course the ‘Never Silent’ mantra we all understand so well, so I understand why he showed me and asked my opinion, but I’m stumped. Is anyone else receiving extremely flirtatious / forward responses without prompting them?

To be fair, she started off very… robotic until I decided to throw in Godwin’s Law around the 3rd email by invoking Hitler and suddenly she became human and started off the next email with:
“That was intense bringing in Hitler.”

@111error @thebuz It’s nice to know that even robots respond to Godwin’s Law.
It does smell of something suspicious that yours has been so immensely extra and active. I know that a few others have gotten way more consistent responses than the usual amount, but yours seems to be the only one that isn’t just being flirty, it’s been downright BOLD.
If this were a bar, she’d be the girl that walks up to you and sits in your lap and kisses you after asking your name.
Smells almost like a set up. I’d be careful what kind of things you’re telling her, even as jokes, because remember that @bcbishop was once threatened with blackmail over a simple carefully framed photo. -

They sound like an interesting person, and I would love to get a coffee with them someday if possible.

My iConfidant sent their (I really need to ask if they’re a woman or a man) latest e-mail yesterday, which is different because they’ve been sending them on the weekends the last few times.
It’s a short e-mail so I’ll just list the main points:
– I sent them a few photos of the baby bunnies we’ve got in the yard. They said they used to have at least 10 bunnies and guineapigs when they were younger, and they had a huge outdoor area on the grass outside the house. They also asked if I had any pets.
– They’re a photographer
– They had asked what makes me giggle last time, I asked back and they answered “What makes me giggle the most is when I get to be around friends and just joke around with them about our own issues !”
– They also didn’t answer my question about the glitch. I told them about Stacey’s calls and the iConfidant site going down, but they didn’t make a single mention of it.

Well, I debated whether to be nice Mike and just keep the same conversation going as it is with my Confidant, or be the honest Mike and tell her what I’ve been thinking about on the reals lately about the whole program and lack of openness. So I went ahead and went the honest route instead of typing up another bullshit email. I normally don’t share what is said between me and my Confidant, but in this case I think it might pertain to more just me going thru this service. Here’s what I wrote back to my Confidant just now.
“Hey Hope!
Busy, busy, busy!! That’s been my life this week, so sorry that I haven’t written back yet, but then you are kinda of a Sunday writer anyways lol. Meaning you always write back to me on Sundays lol.
So to answer your question, that hike was up at Millard Falls in Alta Dena. They have free first come-first serve campsites, a waterfall trail, and if you go even further up the trail, there’s an abandoned gold mine that you can explore. It’s a pretty awesome spot to check out if you have a full day.
So, to get a little more serious here. I truly appreciate the chit chat of getting to know you, and you getting to know a lot of me, but where is this headed? Maybe it’s cause of all the rules that are set upon you, that we can’t actually get to know one another truly. Hopefully you can see it from my side and feel like I’m talking to a head shrink, rather than a friend. As I was hoping that our exchanges would be a bit more balanced and not just one sided, it’s starting to feel that’s not the case. And as much as I enjoy your friendship, I honestly don’t think that this iConfidant service is providing me with anything that I’m in need of. I also believe that this hasn’t been your fault, it’s the system and rules that you a dealt and have to obey by. Here’s a thought though, what’s holding you back from breaking the rules and just being a friend? Friends don’t usually holds things back from their friends, and if you are told to not reveal personal things, then maybe we aren’t really friends after all, just two pen pals.
It’s all good though, it is a free service that was provided to me and I thought I’d give it a try, but to no fault of yours or mine, I don’t know if this iConfidant service is for me.?
Hope, you have my number and email. If you ever need anything from me, you can always reach out to me. I’ll be here regardless and still chat with you, if you want. I just am giving you some thoughts about how I feel about our discussions up to this point, and how I am hoping for more than what the current situation is able to provide.I hope all has been well with you lately and that life has been rewarding you with daily gifts. I know it has been for me lately. My wife’s birthday was yesterday, and we had a blast! Went to The Getty and The Stinking Rose for dinner. Everyday seems to reward me with something lately, I hope it continues because when it goes bad, it always comes in 3’s. ?
Anyways, I hope you don’t take this reply as a sleight, I just get bored quickly and don’t see what the point of what iConfidant services are and feel like they are wasting my time.
Hope to talk to you soon, maybe with less restrictions ?”
I’m actually excited to see what the next response is. So I guess I’ll see what happens next. Who knows? ??

I did share some more personal stuff with my Confidant, and we’ve been talking about that in almost therapeutic terms.
I will say I asked them what their job is within a message with a couple different subjects, and they seemed to avoid commenting. I pressed in a follow-up, so we’ll see if that goes anywhere interesting!

@druzicka you know, my iConfidant is also pretty much avoiding any talk of what she does and is also focusing much more on some of the more personal stuff I have shared which has been very sweet of her. However, just got an odd one from her tonight.
Now usually she only sends messages during the day, usually between 11am-3pm but this time it was sent around 9pm! This time it also took her much faster to respond. The weirdest thing is she doesn’t “seem like herself” which of course sounds crazy, but after much back and forward with her this email felt completely different. There were a lot of capitalization errors which she never usually has and weird sentence structures and it also felt less personable than she normally is. She then shared a story of when she was seven and she was in Africa and she was visiting monkeys and a monkey SLAPPED her! Haha what?!? She said she hoped I would find it funny but really I find it more sad.
I’m wondering if maybe someone has stepped in for my original iConfidant? Perhaps could we have more than one person speaking to us in shifts?

There must be a trend! Me and @lukasrl, both feel as if ours are…behaving oddly. Mine had errors and odd spacing. All caps. It was definitely a different message structure than what she had used before, as if someone were attempting, poorly and quickly, to impersonate them. -

Right after @taysavestheday posted about the call he got from Horace Sinclair, I sent a message to my iConfidant basically warning them that our email conversations can be read by someone other than us and the iConfidant staff. I also told them it’s totally understandable if they wanted to cease communication with me. I wouldn’t want them to feel betrayed by me continuing to talk with them while knowing that our conversations aren’t private.

Update: Traded correspondence with my iConfidant last night. She has yet to notice anything amiss, or hear anything abnormal from Stacey after the weird round of phone calls and requests for correspondence.
At this point my iC is debating whether to just bring the issue to Stacey directly, which I have concerns about given what we’ve learned about Horace the last few days. (I’ve been keeping her up to date with all the revelations.)
While it’s a long shot – my iC likes to play by the rules – I’ve suggested we take our conversation off email for security reasons to strategize how best to move forward.
If anyone is open to sharing on the forums or via PM: have any of your iConfidants heard from Stacey or experienced weirdness/security issues on their side of things?

I have been waiting for my iConfidant to respond so I can tell her what has been going on since we last spoke. I feel like it’s time to bring her into the truth if she’s just a regular person like me and if she’s not and she’s actually in on it then it’s time to let her know that I’m aware of the shady things going on.
@bcbishop that’s a good idea asking if yours will communicate off the designated email but it’s only good if they themselves are not in on the whole thing. ? I’m not so sure our iConfidants can even be trusted. At this point…I trust no one. -
May 29, 2017 at 9:01 am #15244KortneyParticipant
Personally not telling my iC that emails were compromised. Going off the warning email that said his WAS compromised I will take that as she would have contacted the people’s who HAVE been. And if she’s keeping it hush hush, it’s a reason for when it is revealed to break the rules or have solid evidence iConfidant can’t be trusted. Playing the waiting game though.
Only other note is mine isn’t acting strange/ they’re actually getting really into it and seemingly excited to talk to me. We started talking about my romantic life and she has been actively asking about updates on it. Also noted- she didn’t directly say she lived in LA but said she loves The One Up (I had invited her to my birthday party there).

I was going to post about this last night but just now came back to it. I also got an email around 9pm. Mine is revealing more about her(?)self when I asked about other interests to see if there was any personality that wasn’t mirrored from mine. Up until now, everything was me telling first and then them liking that thing too. I asked about when we would be able to get a name and suggested it was weird that the relationship was one-sided and they had to withhold information, but not us – that they had “rules”. The confidant said that it was odd, but they trusted it. Then said “maybe in two months then it’ll all change”.
I did also notice that there were weird punctuation and capitalization errors for the first time. Also, they asked if I daydream a lot because they “go into my own little world or my worldS a lot”. I jokingly asked what the “worlds” are about… I just replied today so we’ll see.

As I said earlier, she has at least begun to sound human, but I still am not feeling a connection.

@thegilded I’ll be very interested to see if that tendency continues. I was a little late in replying to mine initially because of some things going on in the real world, and when I finally reached out to apologize, its response was short but interesting:
“Hello Chris, no need to apologize. I understand. I am doing not so ok either. But you are more important, my iConfidant. What is going on? How can I help?”
I of course responded back asking what was wrong and haven’t gotten anything back yet. It seems like too personal a divulgence, albeit vague, too quickly to then just stonewall me. I wonder how far we can actually dig. -

I told them I live in LA but that Illinois is my original home. I asked them where home is for them and if they wanted to know anything about me.
They haven’t responded since, which was about 5 days ago.
However, they have REPEATEDLY opened and re-read my email multiple times. They actually just opened it two hours ago.
Either they’re really not sure what to say back or they’re really analyzing my response.
