Have we ever been able to sort out who Michelle is referring to specifically when she calls out “her superiors?” Essentially, does she mean the Clockmakers, or others at OSDM?
I think back to the emails between Horace, Samson, and Michelle towards the end of Tension, where Horace angrily wrote “Michelle, you and your entire team were nothing…[Read more]

@Larry, you don’t really think a kevlar vest and weaponry are going to save you from what Noah Sinclair (or the OSDM) have planned, do you? You most of all know their battleground isn’t your body. It’s your mind. And they’re already inside.
Cannot wait to see what happens tomorrow night. Awfully convenient that they just happened to pick the same…[Read more]

@ziegenbart Darren made a point of saying the pictures were “nothing bad”, which seemed to indicate that they weren’t blackmail. It was more a message that was sent to him: he was being watched. (I believe I mentioned this earlier in the initial write-up, but he said he’d received an email from one of their accounts that told him to go the motel.…[Read more]

Thanks everybody for your thoughts. I’ve been turning it over in my head since yesterday. Was it a “save yourself” thing; was Clint being coerced because somebody’s trying to stop us from uncovering something; is there something even more nefarious involved (potentially including him or DLB) and he’s trying to push the community away before we as…[Read more]

When somebody you trust wants you not to do something, at what point should you start to listen?
-
Follow your gut and hope you have some survival instincts =)
-
Don’t listen, you eat those damn pancakes if you want to!
-
If you trust them, I’m sure they want the best for you. But at the same time, you have to trust yourself and your instincts. This question just proves you’re a good person
-
At this point, I’m so fucking confused, I’m just observing what happens until there’s more information.
-
Flip a coin. Don’t bother looking at the result. Just go ahead and do whatever the fuck you want without regard for others’ concern
-
Have they clearly explained why you should not do the thing? There’s a wide gulf between “don’t eat the pancakes,” “don’t eat the pancakes, they’ll make you fat,” and “don’t eat the pancakes, they’re poisoned.”
-
I think you must assess first:
Can you trust that person telling you not to do the thing?
-
I’d say question why they’re saying what they’re saying. We’ve all heard tales of things like breaking someone’s heart just to make them go away to protect them from something they may not even be aware of.
-
If it’s someone you really trust, then don’t do it, if they are asking you not to. I would only not listen, if they are putting themselves or someone else in danger.
-

You mean him asking you to “walk away”? Yeah, I wouldn’t do it then, especially since he’s been acting so weird. Sometimes if someone in trouble is asking you to walk away, what they really mean is don’t walk away, imo.

If I may step OOG For a minute, at the panel you moderated Clint said something to the effect of: “in stories with choices, both choices need to lead to something substantial.” If you want to walk away, you can, and the story will continue. I don’t ever think you should choose something just because the story is pushing you to make that choice.…[Read more]

No. But given that no message was left it’s basically decide it wasn’t them, or live with eternal regret. 🙂

Given that they didn’t leave a message, I’m going to choose to believe that’s exactly what it was.

tfw you get a No Caller ID call and you’re in the middle of an hours-long presentation that you can’t step away from.
-
Noooooooo! Doesn’t your job know you have vital life and death matters to attend to?
-
Pretty early for the OSDM, they have had a history of normally calling later. My money would be on a spam call.

Does the OSDM usually leave voicemails if you miss a call?

No. But given that no message was left it’s basically decide it wasn’t them, or live with eternal regret. 🙂

@sfire8 I took the social media post as a warning to me, specifically.
Noah knows my wife’s name, and mentioned her specifically when he tried to blackmail me. I also gave him my address when I signed up for The System.
Posting travel plans on social media would let him — or whomever he works for — know when she’s home without me.

I wasn’t around during last year’s ARG so I can’t speak to comparisons, but I’m finding the context (or lack thereof) incredibly unnverving right now.
All we really have had as touchstones thus far have been DLB, CS, and Noah. The first two have largely been AWOL, and now seem to be in actual peril, and Noah is as much of an enigma as he was…[Read more]

Agreed, @blondie. I tried to share while still remaining “in game” with regard to the threats posed to the Creators, but we can’t get much stronger guidance than one of them specifically telling us to spread the word in an email that also reiterates the “Never Silent” phrase multiple times. Seems pretty clear that should be our credo moving forward.

Update: I was going through the second email Clint sent (where he said he wanted to make sure everyone saw the above), and noticed several hyperlinks.
One was to an article warning people against sharing photos on social media when they’re out of town because it makes them easier targets. (I’m in Vegas for a work trip and posted to that effect…[Read more]

Some of you puppy lovers may not be surprised, but I received an email this morning from Clint Sears.
Clint claims he’s okay, and based upon some of the things mentioned in the email I do believe it’s the real Clint Sears that wrote this, versus a shadow account. As such, I’m reposting the email and the image he sent me in full below, so everyone…[Read more]

EXcellent question, @mike. i think If we’ve learned anything from our encounters with osdm, it’s that getting inFormation is key. we think we’re seeing one thing, but there’s usually something else right below the surface.

I know everything’s crazy with the code business right now, but sometimes all it takes is a bundle of cuteness to make you stop, look inside, and realize that everything is fine. Here ya go!
