Easily searchable method of conversation tracking, perhaps? Makes sense if they’re trying to data mine, they need to make the individual interactions easily searchable on their end.

Hell of a way to start a conversation. But if they’re just making contacting and speaking based off your reactions, a single question or a single emoji is definitely a hell of a way to let you take the first step.
