(And I realize there’s a paradox there, viz. if this isn’t a game, then that means he’s real, so by doubting his reality I’m automatically assuming this is a game … but I feel like this is the road to madness).

Why are we assuming that Mason is real? Because Darren and Clint said so? The guys who created this entire fictional world? If this isn’t a game, and we’re dropping all distinctions between IG and OOG, then I’m not going to assume or believe anything without a strong reason. And there are no strong reasons for believing anything yet.

They just posted a Katy Perry song on Facebook, so I guess she’s the important one.

If we have to start listening to fucking Taylor Swift to solve this mystery, I’m out.

Isn’t it strange how the person on the call is calling it “the Creator’s master account?” If it’s DLB or CS speaking, wouldn’t he just say “my account” or “the master account?”
I thought that was strange, too. My first thought was that someone else was trying to use stolen passwords to get into the “Creator’s master account.”

Are Taylor Swift and Katy Perry meant to be a metaphor for him and Joyce?

I’d like to think that Noah’s drop-the-mic pronouncement at the end of the System seminar would signify something more inspiring than “I’m going to pass your files on to some creepy tool,” but he is the most likely source of Mason’s info.

“All to soon you will come to a realization what this is, and who the good guys really are.”
Oh, well, great! Then the mystery will be solved!
Mason clearly has an ax to grind with Tension/Lust, and he can’t find any participants to fit his agenda (because everyone loves it) so he’s going after the actors. Which makes sense, I guess (since many…[Read more]

Paul Revere was a Mason and a silversmith. Is Mason our Paul Revere, sent to warn us about the coming of … something? Just a thought.

I just want to know who the board member of Briarberg is who commissioned this investigation. I think that might clear up some of the mystery. But I’m pretty sure Mason is not a game jacker. It wouldn’t have been allowed to go on this long if he were.

I’m especially intrigued by C. Has anyone found that the quotes have personal resonance for events in their lives? Is he implying that they’re meant to apply to specific participants?

@izryn I thought that was interesting, too. But Russell did say that Otis/John said his real name very softly. Which is actually even more interesting, because it implies that he’s breaking the fourth wall without letting Joyce know that he’s doing it. So what’s going on there? Why would John want to establish from the outset that he’s just an actor?

Mason doesn’t even sound human anymore. Who says “Los Angeles California USA”? It reads like a form letter with those words inserted into it. Of course, if it’s a form letter, it’s an oddly specific one.

Young man = gluttony
Attractive woman = lust
Otis = slothAre we being visited by the deadly sins?

I don’t think it’s blackmail. Presumably, everything in that file is stuff Russell voluntarily divulged, so unless the OSDM is taking pictures through his bedroom window, I find it hard to believe that they have anything on him that he’d be desperate to keep secret.
The photo of the briefcase just seems like a power move to me. A way to show that…[Read more]

What’s most interesting to me about the e-mail is that he says they’ve been following Tension/Lust since the middle of last year. So who would have had cause to investigate it over a year ago, and why?

Maybe his company is “the Company.” That would explain why he has so much access to so much information.

Also, I just realized…. the letter C looks like the ring from an almost complete eclipse….
And a coffee stain, though I don’t know if there’s a connection there.
