  I don’t think there’s any reason to attack people’s innocuous posts – some don’t know how to contribute to larger, deeper discussions, or are genuinely intimidated by them and still want to feel that they are contributing. Not much is going on. Chill out.

    Not knowing what to post or feeling intimidated is totally understandable at times, but saying literally *anything* is not necessarily contributing. And the issue with that is that in doing so, many of the discussion threads are getting pushed out of the activity thread, making them even harder for people to find and keep updated on threads, thereby perpetuating the cycle of people being overwhelmed by catching up, or missing important topics.
